All of our curriculum system's playable activities, from the speaking games to the phonics tiles and phonics fish activities, should be utilized with the following guidelines in mind.

You'll Need To Plan Your Own Lessons

The instructions for all playable activities are not a lesson plan. They are simply instructions for how to introduce and use the provided printable activity materials for the intended activity.

The process provided could be spread over several lessons, be a complete lesson, or take place as only one portion of the lesson during a specific class period.

There Should Be Repeated Iterations of Each Activity

The provided materials for each playable activity will always be suitable for repeated use in many lessons. They can be expected to remain engaging to students even if used on several occasions.

Exactly how often a particular step of an activity should be used (and how much time should be spent using it during a particular lesson) depends on how engaged your students are by the activity and by how many unit sections the activity appears in.

For example, the same phonics fish card game (utilizing other phonics words) is included in many units, so teachers should take care to not overuse this game so many times that students lose interest.

On the other hand, Monster Cards used to teach body-parts in Level 1, Unit 4 are rarely suggested for use outside of that specific unit, so that activity can be used heavily in Level 1, Unit 4.

This Activity IS an Assessment

Students' ability to perform well at this game is an accurate assessment of students' recognition of the relationship between certain sounds and certain words. This game will also accurately assess students' recall of theh included vocabulary words.

However, this activity is not the best assessment of students' ability to complete the unit section's learning goals as a whole, just an assessment of some of the unit section's learning goals.

Teachers Are Encouraged to Use These Materials Creativity

The provided printable materials for playable activities were primarily designed for the activity described in their instructions, but they can certain also be used for other games that the teacher may have ideas for.

Suitable for Both Group and 1-on-1 Lessons

All playable activity instructions are written with a group lesson in mind, but practically all activities can also be enjoy productively by the teacher and their student during a 1-on-1 lesson.
