How To Play

Groups: This game is best played in pairs of two participants. One partner will describe the robot shown on a Robot Card and the other partner will attempted to construct a match robot based on the description.

Materials:

  1. One Robot Assembly Sheet (for each round).
  2. One set of Robot Cards or one set of Robot Cards with L/R markers (18 of each type of card available).

Time / Game Round: 1-2 minutes

Gameplay Process:

  • The GOAL of this game is for Partner One to describe a robot shown on a card and for Partner Two to correctly construct a matching robot using scissors, glue, and robot components from the bottom of their Robot Assembly Sheet.

  • Partner One draws a Robot Card randomly from the provided Robot Cards. They must not show the card to Partner Two

  • Partner One tells Partner Two which components the robot on the Robot Card has and where they are.

For example, Partner One could use the following sentences to provided instructions for re-creating this robot.

Robot Card Example

"There is a head in the robot."

"There is a wheel on the bottom of the robot."

"There is an arm on the left side of the robot."

"There are two legs on the top of the robot."

"You are finished!"

  • After Partner Two has finished constructing a robot, the two partners can compare it to the robot on the Robot Card to check for accuracy.

  • This game works best if Partner One cannot see what Partner Two is doing. This will prevent Partner One from being tempted to try to help with cutting, gluing, and assembling. As well, it will prevent Partner One from adding physical gestures to his or her verbal instructions.

  • After completing a round, the two partners can switch roles and the new Partner One can draw a new Robot Card randomly from the deck.
