Methodological Background None of the following activities are simply vocabulary recognition BINGO games. Rather, they all require participants to listen to and understand full sentences in order to correctly participate. For example, for many of the activities, learners will need to be able to differentiate between whether the BINGO caller has said that someone like or doesn't like a specific fruit. These activities therefore offer a special opportunities for less confident learners to productively develop their listening skills in a format that provides repeated practice of the same basic listening skills without the added pressure of simultaneously needing to make use of their speaking skills. Many of these activities also provide phonics decoding/encoding practice in the form of understanding and writing the names of characters that the BINGO information is about. |
